1. I really impacted by the state of these people's lives. They were poor and worked in a dump. I really took away from their attitude. The people were happy with what they were doing. For example, Suelem is happy she works there and she is not a prostitute. Although they work in the dump they are helping the environment. In addition, I liked how the photographer got so connected with the peoples lives he actually enjoyed their lives and help them out.
2. At first they did not know what Vik was doing. After they realized what they were doing, I think they like to express their lives to the public and to show them how hard they work and their difficult lives. They enjoyed sharing their world and raising money. The people were amazing with their pictures. Tiao enjoyed what Vik did with the pictures.He said it let out their story.
3. I would be confused on why they would want to work with us but in the end I would enjoy their appreciation toward us. I think that they could photograph me with calculating and angle and velocity of a shot for soccer. This would show my smartness and my athletic ability.

1. We choose this photo because it symbolizes a lot in our lives. Firstly it symbolizes destruction and damage in life which is never avoidable, but it happens anyway.  Secondly it symbolizes having to move on from loss and not keep living in one moment.  The great cloud of smoke is the destruction and the plane is showing how people must continue on with their own lives and not linger in the past.

2. The smoke coming from the eruption of the Grimsvotn volcano, under the Vatnajokull glacier in southeast Iceland, May 21, 2011. is picture in this photo. It also shows a plane flying by before the airlines cancelled flights.
3. At first glance you might think the smoke is coming from the plane and the plane is going to crash however the plane is safe and not in harm.
4. This shows us the danger that pilots can be in and what they do to risk their lives for our transportation and safety.
5. I wonder how much the damage and destruction the volcano eruption cause and how many people it injured or killed. I also wonder what the people in the plane were thinking at the time they passed.

One Week Family Food Supply

Our family spends around $200 per week.

We like to eat vegetable, fruits, and nuts for snacks.  Our meals consist of low fat dairy, whole grains, fruits and vegetables along with lean meat and fish. Our family likes to make things from scratch. We even have our own wheat berries and flax seed to make our own whole grain flour. Our family is very nurtitious and uses very little processed food. We try to eliminate MSG, corn syrup, preservatives, and nitrates.

20% Project

20% Project

My 20% project is to learn about aviation. I want to learn why a plane is able to fly and how engineers figure out what they need to make the plane fly based on what they want the plane to do. Being a pilot has always been my career goal. I have already flown a small plane with two engines. I figure why not get a jump start on learning how to be a pilot. I plan to use my book on aviation that I got from my dad's friend who flew the plane with me. I will also use resources online to gather information. I anticipate that I will stumble across road blocks. One of them might be that I have not taken physics yet and the science and math might flow right over my head. Also, there could be too much information to learn in the short period of time. I plan to condense the information and have my dad teach me the new mathematical ideas I need to understand. I can also consult pilots in the Air Force that I know. Two examples are my dad and Mr. Wingfield. Both of them are excellent pilots and have been trained. In the end, I hope I have a successful 20% project.

 

New Year Resolution

2012 Resolutions

Reflect: This year I realized that coaches know what they are talking about and I should listen to them. When we practice shooting for soccer, our coaches always tell us to swing from your knee and not with your hip. I would do it but when ever i was not thinking about it I would not do it. Well on Christmas, I was playing kickball and I went to kick the ball and after I did I fell but my brother caught me and carried me inside. The rest of the day it was very hard to walk. It was the most pain I have ever experienced and I have broken my leg before. As I healed over the rest of the break, I realized my coaches were right to swing with my knees. On New Year Eve, I ran 5 kilometers at 10:30 that night because I played racquetball that day and my hip felt good. Well afterward it hurt and now I am only go to soccer practice to run because it still hurts to kick a ball.

Resolve: This year I want start to listen to everyone and consider what they say. It will make my life more successful.Adults are often right and their advice will make you wiser most times. In conclusion, listening to people is a good thing and helpful

Question: What are the limitations to Freedom of Press?
Answer: The U.S. has recognized special situations which they can interfere with the freedom of Press. For example, reporters often use confidential sources on government. However, if the source violates a federal law then the name has to be revealed by the reporter. If you do not release the information you can go to jail. Bloggers are not allowed to post inaccurate information or damaging statements about any person or any business. Reporters also can not hurt the reputation of someone or a business. Freedom of Press does not protect obscenity. It also does not protect you from any threats  or violence you may post against anyone.

Question: Are there Limitations to Freedom of Assembly and Petition?
Answer: Surprisingly there are limitations. If any of the 5 freedoms of expression had no limitations I thought it would be assembly or petition.The police can require a marching permit before a public assembly can be held. They also can impose on the assembly for not enough toilets and emergency aid stations. Anyone can have a march as long as they meat the requirements according to the U.S. Supreme Court in Smith v. Collins in 1978. On-line assembly is illegal when people are threatening people and plotting murders such as Anti-Abortion groups posting threats and abortion doctors online.

Question: Do children have the same rights as adults?
Answer: Yes, children still do have the rights as adults. Until they are adults though there liberties are restricted. We have the right to share our opinion. We also have the right to have a different opinion than our parents. Even though we are children, we have the right to be informed. We also have the right to chose our own interests and learn about them. Choosing a religion for yourself is allowed but many children stay with the religion of their parents. Finally, as children have the right to choose which principles will guide our life.

In conclusion, even though we have rights, they all have limitations. If you are not aware of the limitations it could hurt you or end you up in jail. People should keep in touch with our government laws as citizens.
